Aamir In 8, Not 6 Pack Abs… Though Trailer Is Not Impressive

AAMIR KHAN WITH HIS KILLER LOOKS IN GHAJINIGHAJINI has made its first appearance via trailer/promo during this Diwali. So, what exactly is your first impression? Was AAMIR KHAN dashing? Did ASIN dazzle? Did the promo added any spice to what has already been seen (via snaps)? These are some of the questions that I asked myself when I watched it for about 10-12 times… (Yeah, I know… I had nothing else to do…) Anyway, watch it, if you haven’t already, and then read my comments below and give your honest opinions about the trailer if you have loads of time like I do… ;-)

I have some basic things to say…

  • I know for sure that ASIN is much beautiful than she is in the trailer. She didn’t even make any impression that she is gonna rock in the movie. But I know she will… as she is a very talented actress and a beautiful damsel.
  • AAMIR KHAN looked dashing and superb in the promo. It is an altogether different matter that I haven’t been able to count the number of packs that he has developed. I hope I can after watching the movie in full. But if we were to believe Aamir, he has 8 and not 6 packs of rock solid abs. Already, girls out there must be drooling…
  • But the most crucial part of any trailer is to increase the tempo of the anticipation of the audiences. But there is nothing that we haven’t seen before and I don’t think that our jaws would drop. The main culprit seems to be the editing of the trailer which is not at all pacy. The combination of romance and darkness of the movie could have been released in the second installment and a much darker one could have been chosen as the first outing. Then it would have hit the bull’s-eye. The subject matter of GHAJINI is a complete copy of MEMENTO… so I gotta say on the back of high expectations, anticipated a much darker and pacier trailer that would increase my blood pressure… but alas! I am quite cool as of now.

    Kalcha,
you’re right. I’ve expected a darker trailer. But I hope the movie compensates for the weak trailer.

    Chaitanya,

Yeah… the full movie should compensate.

    Sandeo.

Thanks for commenting. But I feel the importance of trailers and pre-release marketing has gone hyper in recent times. If not for the publicity… stupid and shameful show piece movies like “Singh Is Kinng” would have… in all sanity bit the dust. That is the power of publicity. And analyzing them is not such a bad thing. After all, its crores at stake. :-)

Well,I don’t know what does a business executive has to do with an 8 pack abs! ;-)

Yep, I second Ganesh here, what is the need for 8 or 6 packs for this movie in the first place, if someone can clarify that it will be great :)

    Ganesh & Ramesh,

If I were to justify 6/8 pack of abs… my answer would be:

Ghajini is a pucca commercialised version of Memento. So, keeping its target audiences and motives in view… there should be some elements of SHOCK & INTRIGUE. The 6/8 pack of abs takes care of the SHOCK factor and the secrecy of the heroine ASIN (she is not allowed to speak about the film until the release… much like Anushka for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi) for the target audiences(Hindi speaking movie buffs) should take care of the INTRIGUE factor.

By the way, the answer is just to justify. ;-)
