Amit Khan Claims He Sued Singh Is Kinng For Rs 5 Crore

IF nothing else, the writers are getting their due either through the compensation awarded or through out-of-court settlements now-a-days. Bollywood and Indian Cinema is largely prone to COPY Scripts, Stories, Music and what not. Recent cases filed are a proof of that and without any shred of truth why would these accused pay up in one form or another?

Latest issue is of Writer AMIT KHAN claiming that he has sued SINGH IS KINNG and its team including Akshay Kumar, Anees Bazmee and Vipul Amrutlal Shah for a whopping Rs 5 Crore. Amit, reportedly the author of over 90 Novels, says… “Yes, I have sued Singh Is Kinng and the team for Rs 5 crore for stealing my script. I came to know about it when I saw the film on August 10, 2008. I immediately filed a complaint with the Writers’ Association on August 13, 2008. I had written a novel named Boss in 1990, which was published in 1996. Singh Is Kinng is copied from this novel, scene-by-scene. A long time ago, I had narrated the basic concept to Akshay’s late secretary Vikas Bali and his two brothers, and they liked it. Bali then had introduced me to Akshay during the shooting of the climax of Dhadkan at Sahar airport. At the time, I had gifted my novel to Akshay. I had also narrated it to Anees Bazmee, when I was working with him during the making of Karz - The Burden Of Truth, in which I had written the screenplay and dialogue. I have sent photocopies of the scenes copied from my novel. I want my credits.”

In a stern reply, Director Anees Bazmee says, “I had given a break to Amit. And now that my film is a hit, he’s claiming I’ve stolen his story. Does he have the proof for it? This is what success does to people.”

This is yet another allegation of scene-by-scene copy after Om Shanti Om faced a similar complaint.
