IF so, consider giving it a shot over this weekend or someday you like because it is not all that bad a film. BACHNA AE HASEENO is not the best movie you will see this year but it certainly is not the worst movie either. To put the story and the movie into perspective, let me tell you that it is a concoction of 2 fantastic movies AUTOGRAPH (Tamil & Telugu) and BROKEN FLOWERS (ENGLISH) and 1 Episode of popular series FRIENDS. While Autograph deals with the Beautiful Phases Of Love in everyone’s life in an episodic narrative, Bachna Ae Haseeno deals with the same Phases Of Love in a playboy’s life that destroys the lives of his flames narrated in the same episodic fashion. Then the apologising part or shall I say, Sorry-Saying part is from the Broken Flowers and Friends (Not A Movie). All in all a time-pass version of all of the above put together. While the above references are Sensible, Entertaining and Touching, Bachna Ae Haseeno is just Entertaining. And what more? If you love On-Screen kisses, then it has 3 of them. The primary reason I got entertained by this movie is the fact that I happened to watch Singh Is Kinng, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai & God, Tussi Great Ho (all of them seriously tested my patience) in succession before this.

• Bipasha Basu. oh yeah… The ways of Bollywood and Indian Cinema in general are strange. When someone has the tag of being the sex-bomb or if someone has a modeling career as bright as Bipasha’s, they are straight away termed as being non-actors or non-actresses. But how far that is justifiable? Haven’t those guys n gals seen CORPORATE? In that movie she excels like a seasoned performing actress. The same can be said here. She perfectly enacts the character assigned to her in this movie too.
• Ranbir Kapoor. Hmmm… I had my doubts, but he is a complete natural when it comes to posing for the camera. Acting, while not perfect in this cheesy role, he is not bad at all for just his second movie. He would definitely surpass his father in stardom and also the critical acclaim. By the way, he dances with an amazing ease.
• The crisp narration of the first half of the film that simply breezes past you. It’s cool while not heavy. It’s brisk while not skippy.
• Hiten Paintal. Wondering who is this guy? He is the friend of RAJ in the movie. This actor is simply superb in his histrionics. Give him a better director and he would do wonders. Just needs to step out of those suffocating Yash Raj Sets. He has a bright future as an actor.

• Mini-Ssha-Giddi-Aunty, Don’t hate me for saying this guys n gals, Minissha Lamba was completely miscast in this movie. I mean, she really is Mini, Giddi and Aunty. She looks at least 35+ dressed like a 15+ flaming with 18+ Raj (Ranbir). How crude is that? But she is potentially a good actress. She is just not made for this type of glam roles.
• And isn’t it too convenient to sketch Deepika Padukone as working by the day in a supermarket, working by the night as a taxi-driver? And icing on the cake is that just by pronouncing XBOX and HALO 3, she becomes the smart woman that is a bright student as well (God knows… when?).
• The second half is just begging for pace in the narrative.
• The apologising parts are too comic to comprehend the depth of the suffering each of his ex-flames went through.
• The climax is cliched.

In the end, it won’t disappoint you. Entertaining, a fantastic time-pass, good performances all around and 3 kisses.
