If you are still interested in reading the complete review… then be my guest.
If you are still… reading this… then my friend, you had too many expectations from Ram Gopal Varma and his Trilogy On Crime’s Faces. Wondering about my expectations? :-S Well, I simply hadn’t any. How could I have any with a still in condition brain? I mean haven’t you been already tortured by Ramu’s previous offerings like AAG and more recently SARKAR RAJ? If you did… then you probably gave this DUD a MISS.

Now, who is this dude called Prashanth Pandey? He doesn’t have, even an ounce of Writing Skill in him (Based on his work in Sarkar Raj and Contract). And still… he makes Living Out Of Writing for movies. Arre Prashanth mamu… get in touch with me… and give me some tips yaar. So, owing to my above thoughts, I wouldn’t deal with the story. At best it is a cheap concoction of many movies from India and outside India. It especially borrows heavily from Infernal Affairs (The Departed) among the most recent ones.

More than the story itself, the movie is marred by the shoddiest Background Score by Amar Mohile… especially for a thriller. And also the Music by the bunch of Amar Mohile, Sana Kotwal, Bapi and Tutul evokes laughter and disgust at the same time. ‘Coz, in the name of creativity, they made a child and probably a bunch of them to sing a song Twinkle Twinkle which has lyrics… Ab Bomb Lagana Mangta hai Bhai… and along those lines.

Adhvik Mahajan as Aman/Amaan is the protagonist, who by the way has an intense face to boot with, but seriously falls short when it comes to the VOICE MODULATION. He is in dire need of a Coach in that department if he is serious about his career. ‘Coz he sounds too timid for a Commando turned Gangster (Under Contract of course…). It is even a sin to compare him with the exemplary performance of J D CHAKRAVARTHY of Satya. But that doesn’t mean Adhvik is a bad actor. He just needs some time learning the Art Of Being An Artist. By the way, either by birth or by make up, his eyebrows are too thick or thickened to the level that they seem as some cheap stick-ons available with drama companies.

All in all, Aman/Amaan doesn’t come forth as a man of few words but a man of no words.

The Honest Cop Ahmed Hussain’s character enacted by Prasad Purandare is the only saving grace of the film. Though the performance was not spellbinding by any standards, it just gives us a hint of the abundance of talent in this man. He is definitely an actor to watch out for in the future. By the way, the habit of sipping coffee while on duty or otherwise is a straight rip-off from a very well made Telugu movie ANUKOKUNDA OKAROJU (The only difference, Jagapathi Babu in Telugu… sips juice. (B) )

Prasad Purandare would become a more in demand Actor in the future.

Upendra Limaye as Goonga and Amrutha Subhash as his wife start off with a promise of good performances and end up hamming along towards the end. The attempt was clearly to recreate Bhiku Matre of Satya and his wife’s love magic. But ends up being stupid and funny rather than touching.

Zaakir Hussain as Sultan too starts off well and ends up being a HEADACHE.

Every other character played by every other actor has nothing to mention and in fact this time PET of Ramu… Sakshi Gulati (Iya) is at best a replacement of Nisha Kothari (his favourite PET).

HIGH LIGHTS

Truly, the funniest episode in a sensible way is when the character of DARA enacted by Kishore Kadam flees completely nude on busy streets when our hero chases him.

A few dialogues that are noteworthy unless they are copied from elsewhere are…
Baap Agar Mashoor Ho, Tho Kai Bete Paida Hothe Hain!
Ye Bruce Lee Ka Nahi, Osama Ka Zamana Hai!
Mai Jagah Se Nahin, Dimag Se Kaam Kartha Hoon!

LOW LIGHTS

Funniest episodes in a nonsensical way are…

  1. The RD gang looks like a bunch of fools complete with a supposedly Sexy Don Girl (RDs sister Iya)
  2. To get recruited as a gangster, our commando He-Man starts exercising on a beach in complete Rocky Style.
  3. An underworld gangster being a Sharp Shooter, should probably shoot without a trace of evidence and yet… the Director Ram Gopal Varma provides him a Bright Red Super Bike to shoot from the closest spot possible.
  4. In another scene, when the hero tries to go one upon DARA’s character, he enters his room and shoots at the gun as Dara tries to reach for it. Only Ramu can explain why?
  5. Well I knew that a Right or Left Hand of a Don possess the desire of replacing the Don himself. But this is the first time… I have seen a… nonsense from the start… Chinese martial artist who is a body guard of RD… attempting to replace him.
  6. An RD’s opposite Gang Leader supported by IB and who talks of controlling Mumbai… couldn’t buy a Rs. 9 Lakh Necklace for his wife. Ramu Jiii… come on man… stimulate your brain nerves. It’s high time.
  7. How can I miss this…? The movie is complete with a customary Beer Guzzling, Strip Teasing Item Song which is supposed to be a meeting place for several High-Profile people. But I found NONE. If you find ANY, please inform me… I would update…
  8. Each and every one in the movie talks over mobile phone as if they are talking in their bathrooms. For example, Amaan talks with Ahmed Hussain non-stop through out the movie over a mobile phone while with the Dons themselves. Inexcusably stupid.

In the end, all I can muster is that RAM GOPAL VARMA DELIVERS MORE FLOPS THAN GOONGA HIMSELF…

★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
