Esha Deol Kicked Out As Sagarika Ghatge Gains Raftaar

SAGARIKA GHATGE is surely a budding star while ESHA DEOL is a down and out nobody… She doesn’t have any prospects in the industry to boast off. In those circumstances, anyone would expect her to be humble and accept good offers for a bit lower pay packet. But in a BOLD (might even be a foolish) step, Esha Deol demanded higher remuneration for a full length character in tentatively titled RAFTAAR.

Sagarika Ghatge came in to the limelight with a gutsy performance as Preeti Sabharwal in Chak De India. She also emerged as the most glamorous girl from the movie. Banking on that appeal, she bagged the part in Raftaar as PERCEPT PICTURE COMPANY signed the actress. The film is being directed by a noted Ad film maker SHAMIN DESAI. The most cheesy detail of this development is that she is cast opposite EMRAAN HASHMI.

Even SARITA PATIL, head of feature films at Percept Picture Company, confirms the development by saying… “Yes. We have signed Sagarika for Raftaar. She has replaced Esha Deol as we couldn’t agree on the price. After things didn’t work out with Esha, we had a couple of options in mind and our director Shamin had seen Sagarika’s work in Chak De India and felt she would fit the part. Sagarika’s is a full-fledged lead role opposite Emraan Hashmi.”

The film also boasts of NEHA DHUPIA (fresh from Singh Is Kinng success) and ADITYA PANCHOLI. The shooting is well in full swing in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. The movie itself might be released in the early part of 2009.
