Meena Desperately Defends Kuselan aka Kathanayakudu…

MEENA tries to defend the lack of strong appreciation for KUSELAN from the public. In fact, the Telugu version of the movie KATHANAYAKUDU is heading towards a major disaster. Although Kuselan opened to a decent opening of 90-95% in Chennai, it is nowhere near to the response that a RAJNI KANTH commands. And it seems, the reviews by and large have been at best average. So, there is only downhill from here on for the collections even in Tamil. That is the very reason that the producers immediately arranged a Success Meet (A custom for the Flopping movies in South India… especially in Tollywood) for the movie. Well, those are the facts…

Meena In Kuselan and Kathanayakudu

So, where were we? Meena was defending… right…? “Accolades are pouring from all quarters for my performance in Kuselan. All credit to P Vasu sir who considered me the apt choice for the role”, Meena says. She enacted the same role in the Malayalam original Katha Parayumbol. “Since I had to do the same role, I had no tension enacting it (while the role demands poverty struck middle class woman… she strangely seems oblivous to her own poverty and always looks in bliss…). It was a dream-come-true-experience for me to share the screen with Rajnikanth sir. Beginning with Anbulla Rajnikanth, I have acted in six films with the Super Star so far. Appreciation for my performance is pouring in from various quarters. I consider this the greatest moment of my life”, she says. Asked why she is very choosy these days, Meena says, “I want to choose only the right scripts. Only those films which have a challenging role for me would appease me”. (Ohhh… so you are finding better scripts on Stupid Television Dance Shows…)

Yeah, Indian Cinema is strange… Elsewhere (International), once a movie goes soft on the box office… it stays that way and no one bothers with late success meets via publicity drives or rather fake publicity. All we can say is… Meena Jiii… come to terms with the reality. :-(
