AUDIENCE RATING FOR “MUNIYANDI VILANGIYAL MOONDRAM AANDU”
JUST… INITIAL THOUGHTS
BHARATH is one of the best actors of Kollywood as of today. That is despite the lack of stardom that some of his undeserving counterparts enjoy. But, he is trying too hard to get into the groove of stardom and hence the mass masala flicks such as MUNIYANDI VILANGIYAL MOONDRAM AANDU. It also has a very promising actress POORNA (SHAMNA KASSIM), who is a Malayalam actress with experience beside Mohan Lal in a few movies. Director THIRUMURUGAN is not a new name for Tamil Nadu as he took a huge leap onto the big screen from being a Hit Director of Mega serial Metti Oli. He did his first movie with Bharath in the lead. And that promises some ease in writing the script. Let’s see what is in store…
RAMBLINGS
Well, the movie starts off with picturing the scenic beauty of the rural Tamil Nadu. But it could have been captured much better if the Cinematographer VAITHI strained his neck muscles to lean a bit in to his camera lens. Unfortunately all we see is a sweeping camera over coconut plantations with uninspiring angles and movements. And this is the case through out the movie. As for the story in the first half of the movie is concerned… let me put it this way, just start counting from 1-100-? and you will get the number of movies you have seen before with a slight variation in this screenplay. It is probably one of the most repeated line of script writing in Indian Cinema. A rural setup with a rural college… a boy studying… a girl joins in… routine Pre-love drama fights… interspersed with worst comedy track… over caring parents of boy… villainy father of the girl… by the way, the girl is rich and the boy is poor… and you have an hour-and-a-half wasted already.
Just as we prepare to leave the theater for good… a bit of twist comes in to the story just before the interval. Hero tries to avenge as the heroine despises him. The second half of the movie is much better written than the first half… though not well written by my yardstick. The rivalry of the lead pair continues with a worst possible song of Vadivelu too crammed in to the middle of the proceedings. Vadivelu is just disgusting in this movie with an Attender cum Excorcist role with bells all over him and rasta hair adorning his head. The story takes another turn with Bharath informed that indeed it is heroine’s father that killed his brother. The informants as usual are the rivals of heroine’s father. In the meanwhile, heroine is desperately caring for the hero as he continuously despises her in retort of course. Just when I started to think it is hopeless yet again, the BEST SCENE OF THIS MOVIE welcomes us where Bharath and Poorna clears their misunderstandings over a heated argument and end up expressing their true love for each other. It is truly moving and is a commendable job by the director to sketch it with variation. And then the movie ends with a fight. That’s all…

- Although there is nothing challenging for Bharath to show off his acting prowess, he excels in every frame.
- The most satisfying outcome of this movie is discovery of POORNA (SHAMNA KASSIM). She is a brilliant actress and is surely going to be one of the most wanted damsel in Kollywood and elsewhere in the times to come. She is beautiful in the traditional attire. But I seriously doubt her glamour quotient.
- PONVANNAN, who portrayed as hero’s father is simply natural.

- VADIVELU comes to my mind like a thunderbolt. He is just ridiculous now-a-days and is just making our movies a bit more miserable than they already are.
- VAITHI as the cinematographer has done injustice to the beautiful locales of rural Tamil Nadu.
- The script and the direction are so rotten that I can still smell the stench.
- Anything and everything else including VIDYASAGAR’s yawning music compositions.
NOT SO… FINAL THOUGHTS
Except the heroine’s performance, I did not enjoy the movie even a bit. I don’t think many of you will either. But if you did enjoy it… don’t forget to leave your comments with arguments.
